Computers have become a part and parcel of our daily lives and at times many of us tend to lug a laptop to nearly everywhere we move around. Typically when your Windows based system starts up, it gives out a resonant sound and same is the case when you shutdown the system. While the system sound has its usefulness the same can land you in an embarrassing spot when you are say in a conference room or library and your laptop starts to give out the all to familiar strong pitched sound. Now if you are looking for a solution to this trivial yet somewhat irritating issue then you need to check out Auto Mute 2.7 which essentially turns of the system sounds while your system turns on or off.
Auto Mute is a very light weight application which gets installed within seconds. On launch it sports a compact screen which offers the basic options to turn off the system sound. Some of the major options it offers include choices to turn off the sound during computer shutdown log off or suspend mode along with options to mute the sound whenever a screensaver appears. It also allows setting a beep to intimate you when the sound is apparently turning on. You also get the option to choose whether to run program automatically on startup. The application is useful at times of accessing the files and new e-mail in a situation wherein there are people around us and we wish to avoid the notification sound and alert the people near us.
Auto Mute 2.7 comes across as an interesting application which has been created with an aim of getting rid of a quirky aspect that often bugs a number of users. The application earns a respectable score of 3 rating points owing its utility value. However its limited scope is likely to restrict it from gaining wide popularity.
